Things to do

Table Mountain cableway

Table Mountain may be one of the city’s most well-known landmarks, but a visit to Cape Town would not be the same without a trip to the summit. Standing at 1085 meters (3560 feet), the flat-topped mountain is low enough to climb in a few hours and high enough to offer spectacular views of the entire city.

Cape peninsula tour

The South Peninsula is home to one of the world’s most spectacular passes, Chapman’s Peak Drive, as well as seaside villages and suburbs that remain far from the madding crowd. Cape Point is where the cold Benguela current on the west coast and the warm Agulhus current on the east coast merge, often in a cataclysmic confrontation. It is also one of the highest sea cliffs in the world – 249m above sea level. The Peninsula is made up of Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Scarborough, Cape Point, Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, St James and Muizenberg.

Explore the winelands

Wine tasting is an utterly charming way to pass the weekend. When paired with some of the most beautiful landscapes on earth, century-old architecture and awe-inspiring food, it becomes one of Cape Town’s most beloved activities for visitors and locals alike.

Visit Cape Point - where two oceans meet

It may not be the southernmost point of Africa – that honour goes to Cape Agulhas – but Cape Point certainly makes you feel as if you are standing at the edge of the world. Cape Point is a spectacular sight with towering stone cliffs, endemic fynbos, breathtaking bays, beaches and rolling green hills and valleys, just 60km outside Cape Town.
